Police Send Notice To Flipkart CEO Over Sale Of Stolen Mobiles

The Flipkart is a digital marketplace which helps sellers to connect with customers across the country.

Now Delhi Police have sent a notice to Flipkart and asked them to join a probe into the sale of hundreds of mobile phones those stolen by agents registered with e-tailer. The notice, addressed to CEO of Flipkart, came following arrest of six persons and recovery of stolen high-end mobile phones which worth around Rs 1 crore, said sources.

As many as 200 mobile phones were later sold to many customers across the India, supposedly through e-commerce giant Flipkart, police said. About 209 stolen mobile phones were recovered from the arrested men.

A Flipkart spokesperson said this notice had not been served to any individual but to the company and it would depute somebody to join the investigation.

“Flipkart is a digital marketplace that helps sellers to connect with customers across the country. Each and every one of our 40,000 plus sellers is mandated to adhere to stringent guidelines. Any exception to, or violation of this code of conduct is taken very seriously. We enforce a strict policy of zero tolerance against unscrupulous sellers who sell products that are fake, stolen or in violation of any applicable law of the land,” said the spokesperson.
